Prologue
Holy matanza bananas, I’m doing it. I’m posting publicly a section of my book baby. Without further ado, here’s the prologue of my upcoming mermaid fantasy novel, Pelagic:
Prologue
Is it possible to miss a place you’ve never been?
As I swam under the surface, gliding through the foreign underwater world, I had the oddest sense of homecoming. As if I’d been carrying this feeling of saudade forever, only recognizing it in its absence.
It felt as if the ocean alone provided a nutrient of which I was deficient, sustenance to the cells that swirled inside my own internal corporal sea. I slid through the water reveling in the sensation of liquid belonging, feeling whole.
It wasn’t just the water; it was the place. The feeling of ancientness. So much mystery pulsed against my skin, beckoning. The sea had an untold number of secrets, and it was up to her whether or not they would be revealed.
