A Funny Thing about New Years

A lesson for those in the northern hemisphere.

The funny thing about new years being set in the middle of winter is:

It’s spring energy.

New starts, fresh beginnings. 

These happen during the spring time. Flowers bloom, animals are born. The birds migrate.

In winter, the world is still. Darker. 

Inviting us to huddle in, hunker down.

A time for meditation, reflection. 

To deepen our roots, to choose which seeds we may sow.

Planning. 

Rest.

These are the lessons that winter offers.

And as the days grow longer, and the world around us blooms, so do we.
